My name is Mitchell Giffen and I'm a Junior at Indian Valley High School in Gnadenhutten, Ohio. I am involved in many extracurricular activities in high school such as drama, newspaper, and student council. Although I do many activities in high school, my passion belongs to wrestling. I love the one on one competition the sport brings and the life lessons you can take from the sport.
I started wrestling in 2nd grade through the Indian Valley Biddy program and have progressed my way to making the varsity line up all three years of my high school career. My goals for my junior year were high as I wanted to be a state qualifier and even a state placer. My season goal was to break my teams takedown record for a season. Sadly my junior year was interrupted as I dislocated my elbow at the beginning of the season. I worked my way back from the injury, thanks to Dr Schickendance at the Cleveland Clinic, and following a rigorous rehab schedule while working to maintain my wrestling skills during the six weeks I was out. The injury has only made me hungrier for success as I am already in preparations for my senior year and I expect to be on the podium at state for the end of my high school career.
