I am a wrestler and football player for Rossford High School. Currently wrestling the 170 weight class but weight has been closer to 165 all season. I am currently ranked 22 in the state with an overall record of 29-4 going into leagues this weekend. I am having a very successful year and I am confident that I am going to finish it very successfully with a league title and a ride to the state tournament.
I am looking for a college or university that I can wrestle for while getting my education degree. My overall desire is to be come a teacher and really focus on making History fun for kids to learn. I love History and think that I can make a good impact with this subject. I'd also like to come back and coach wrestling as well. I believe that I can make a difference other kids academic and athletic careers like my coaches have been for me.
I enjoy being a mentor and I spend any extra time that I have in the wrestling room coaching and mentoring the younger wrestlers. I believe that the relationship between our biddy wrestlers and myself will help them grow and become good wrestlers and allow me to grow in how I interact with these kids and my future students once I get my teaching degree.
I have learned some hard lessons throughout my high school career. I focused on my sports and didn't focus on the academics which hurt me along the way. When I became ineligible during my Junior year, it was devistating. I learned the hard way that it is more important to stay focused on the academics and I have completely turned things around for my senior year. Currently I am holding a 3.5 this year which shows my commitment to turning things around and being a good student. My goal is to maintain this to bring my cumulative up from the 2.6 to maybe a 3.0.
I love wrestling. Wrestling is my passion. It has really taught me about myself, what it takes to succeed, and that it is all about me. When I'm on the mat I want to do the absolute best I can do. I train hard through workouts with the team and Crossfit on my own. I believe it is important to build a good core and be in the top physical shape I can be in order to be the best wrestler that I can be. On the mat, it is my time and I own that mat. My opponent has to take that away from me and I do everything I can to prevent that. No one can take that from me.
