My freshman year does not reflect the type of wrestler I am. I had received a concussion the first couple of weeks and tried to wrestle through it until the symptoms were too serious to continue. I ended up being out for 14 weeks and was not able to wrestle in the post season. I really wanted to make my mark as a freshman to get noticed by colleges. After the concussion, I refocused and started Greco and Freestyle wrestling in the spring. I was practicing 4x a week to prepare myself for the PAWF State Championships. I ended up taking 4th in the state of Pennsylvania in both styles. I have been practicing at the PA Regional Training Center at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia to make myself better. My ultimate goal in high school is to win a state title and go to a Division I college. Wrestling is the most important thing in my life besides academics and family. What makes me different from all the other recruits around the country is that I am a young high school student aspiring to be the best I can be. No matter how much blood, time, and sweat I have to endure I will reach my goal.
As much time as I spend towards wrestling I also prioritize my academics and school activities. I have an 85% average for my freshman year. I represent my class as a student ambassador for my grades and character. I was also voted by the students of our school as a class officer. With these privileges I was granted the opportunity to represent my school to the community with tours and volunteer work. Along with being part of these extracurricular activities I am a part of class congress. Being in the club I helped plan homecoming and the pep-rally. This shows that I am good at time management and can lead a group to a successful outcome.
As a 2018 graduate, I look forward to talking with colleges regarding my future of becoming a Division I athlete. As I've stated above my character, academic record, and playing ability I hope we can speak soon regarding us working together in the future.
