Personal Statement
I started wrestling in 7th grade to stay in shape for football. Then, finding I enjoyed the challenge of wrestling. As a new wrestler, I worked hard. Learning quickly, I went to States my second year of wrestling. In 9th grade, I was headed to States but was unable to participate due to mono and medical restrictions. The following year at Regions (10th grade), I suffered a shoulder fracture and had to forfeit. Despite these unfortunate events, I continued with wrestling. My junior year, weighing 185 lbs, I wrestled up at 220 making it to the semi final consolation round at Regions. I never miss practice or school (perfect attendance award the past 2 years). This summer, I am working with a personal trainer towards a successful senior season. As a member of the National Honor Society, I am well rounded with success in my academics, sports, and community volunteer work. In the past 5 years, my wrestling has notably improved as I have continued to learn from my coaches and team mates. Motivated, athletic, and determined, I will be successful in college wrestling and academics.
