For 11 years I have been wrestling and have grown up with the sport both in my past home in Wisconsin and now in Western Pennsylvania. I was fortunate enough to make the varsity team my freshman year and learned quickly that often in Western Pennsylvania, success is a process. My dad has always called me the “blue-collar” wrestler, which at first isn’t something all that enticing. After a while, I think he is right. The focus of hard work and making gains to better my craft is an ongoing push to make me better every day. I had to overcome a number of obstacles over the years, but have continued to improve and make gains. My freshman year was rough. I made the team but wrestled up to help fill out the roster. That came with some significant beatings. Throughout that year I learned more about camaraderie, leadership, and courage. I also understood how my team, my club, and my coaches were all tools for my improvement. Since Freshman year my “blue-collar” work ethic has continued and now after my Junior year, it's time for the payoff. Last year I finished ranked in state, but missed the state tournament by one placement. Another tough lesson; one that changed me again for the better. A pointed focus has caused a heightened sense of training that continues to broaden my skills and strength. I have high goals for my senior year and look to stand on the podium at the state tournament. The limited success from my junior year has fortified my love for wrestling and given me more drive and aspirations to continue competing at the college level. My love for wrestling is similar to my love of academics; primarily robotics and electrical engineering. Both of these passions are vital to my future and it is my goal to find that college that allows me to flourish in both.
Wherever I end up in college, I know that the program will benefit from me being a part of it. I truly love wrestling and look forward to the process of finding my future home.
