Personal Statement
My name is Anthony Colella, and I know that I would be a great candidate for your collegiate wrestling team because I exemplify hard work through my actions on and off the mat and in the classroom. I plan on majoring in an engineering-based field to obtain a master’s degree and also to compete on a collegiate wrestling team throughout my time in college. Not only did I compile a record of 29-6 this year, but I also maintained a 4.05 weighted GPA this year along with achieving the number three rank in my class of 458 students. I received Eastern National All-American status in 2015, 2016, and 2017 through the Mid-Atlantic Wrestling Association (MAWA). I won my first Eastern National championship in 2015, followed up in 2016 as a finalist, and won another championship in 2017. Also, as of late, I competed in the NHSCA Nationals in Virginia Beach and was one match away from achieving All-American status. Outside of athletics and academics, I enjoy helping out others within my community. So far in high school, I have amassed 75 hours of community service through the National Honors Society and the local Youth Group by performing various tasks such as food drives, tutoring, and assisting at the local library.
