Starting at a young age I have had to work against and over come obstacles related to my medical history. Born with crooked eyes, which have required a total of 5 surgeries, my eye hand coordination was never going to be the greatest. Knowing this, my parents started me off at a young age in the sport of jiu jitsu, where I could rely on my body awareness and physicality. As I continued on with jiu jitsu, I realized I could utilize my skills and transition into high school wrestling. Not having a lot of resources or opportunities for wrestling in our area, I have had to learn what I could and combine the two sports which make up a unique style. I have learned that I have a competitive fire and want perform to the best of my abilities. I am a quick learning, and apply what I have been taught. Being a part of a team, I have learned that I can also teach what I have learned and help my teammates. Serving in the role of Captain this past season gave me the opportunity to work on my leadership skills in addition to my skills and technique in wrestling. I know I can be an asset to any team and I am looking forward to the opportunity to learn and grow.
