As soon as I started wrestling in 10th grade under Coach Craig LaMont, I knew I wanted to continue the sport. I love the hard work it takes, pushing myself and constantly learning how to improve my technique and performance. I worked extremely hard that first year and placed third in my Utah High School Activities Association division, qualifying and wrestling in the state tournament. I was invited to wrestle with the Champions Wrestling Club, Utah, and worked hard to learn more technique. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, my new high school’s state cancelled this past year’s wrestling season and my school cancelled practices and coaching. I have continued to try to train for the 2021-2022 wrestling season, though. with weights, conditioning, practicing non-contact wrestling, and focusing on improving my approach to taller opponents and perfecting my double legs. I plan to participate in two wrestling camps this summer. My love of wrestling, dedication, determination to become the best wrestler possible and ability to quickly adapt and learn new techniques, and my upper body strength can positively contribute to a college program. My goals are to win the high school state championship this coming year, compete at the Fargo Nationals, wrestle in a strong college program, and obtain a quality college education. I am undecided about my college major but possibly interested in areas that apply what I learn to in an active way, mental health counseling and careers that use my visuospatial skills to develop functional devices.
