Personal Statement
I’m a rising senior from Clarke County High School in Virgina. Going into my high school freshman season my school was going to cancel the wrestling season due to COVID. I then became an advocate for my team and sport and prepared and gave a speech in front of the entire school board during their monthly meetings. That action was key in their final decision which was them allowing us to continue with the wrestling season that year. That year, I proceeded in placing second in the state tournament as a freshman. That off season I competed and tried to make it to Fargo, unfortunately I came up short with an ankle injury during training. I then had a big unfortunate medical crisis come up in my life that didn’t allow me to compete the following sophomore year. I was unable to go to school and wrestle. Through my hard work and determination that I have learned through the sport of wrestling, I did not give up. I stayed in the sport as much as possible. Coaching the little kids and being grateful for any and all opportunities that I had at the moment. My junior year of high school I returned from my medical issue, getting back into the sport and working hard to recover from my lost year. I placed 5th at states. I didn’t do as well as I would have liked but I was grateful just too even be capable and allowed to compete. I worked even harder and went to northeast regions to try and qualify for Fargo. In freestyle I went 1-2. In Greco I lost in the blood rounds almost qualifying for Fargo. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to grow and learn the sport of wrestling and would love to compete at the collegiate level.
