Personal Statement
I believe that anyone who knows me would describe me as driven, athletic and competitive. Early in high school it became clear to me that wrestling is my sport. While I’ve enjoyed participation in organized programs in football, swimming, basketball, Nordic skiing, baseball and track & field, I am drawn to wrestling's individual focus. I enjoy the challenge and discipline involved in relying solely in myself when I'm on a wrestling mat, and at the same time experiencing the camaraderie of being part of a wrestling team. My team has won the regional and state tournaments for the past two years, and I work hard to be a positive leader on the team. My freshman year I was an alternate to the state tournament at 132 lbs, my sophomore year I placed second in state at 138 lbs, and in this year I won the state championship at 152 lbs. I'm working toward to another state championship at the end of my senior season. During the school year, I go to the gym to lift weights every day before school and then after school to sports practices. I play football on the fall, wrestle in the winter season, and am involved in helping coach our youth wrestling program in the spring. In the summer, I follow my own daily training program, attend wrestling camps, and work for a construction company. I can’t wait to take my wrestling to the next level!
