Personal Statement
What makes me a person that a baseball program would find favor investing in? Leadership, teamwork, and self-disipline are necessary to reach my goals, especially my goal of playing competitive baseball at the college level. I have been taught to strive for excellence in the classroom and on the field. This is shown through my character and leadership. I am a catalyst for my team. My motto is 24/7 grind, I bring hard work and intensity to ever practice and game.
Although I have individual goals. I understand the importance of teamwork and strive to help bring out the best in my teammates. My work ethic has earned me great opportunitys. From the age of 5 years old, I have always played 4 years above my age. Playing with older players has taught me to act in a mature manner and seek the better competition to test my skills. Taking on this challenge allowed me to earn a spot to play shortstop for our local American Legion 17u Gold Division my 8th grade year. After achieving that goal. I wanted to challenge myself and my skills further. I requested a tryout with the Az Wildfire in Scottsdale , Az. I not only impressed the coaches at the tryouts with my skills, I also impressed them with my maturity and my understanding of the game. I was awarded the starting shortstop position for their 16u underclassmen team. I was the only Tucson, Az player on a roster loaded with players from the Phoenix and Scottsdale area. I was named to the All Tournament Team at my first PG/EvoShield National Championship ( underclassmen ) tournament in Goodyear, Az. Which earned me a spot on our local media outlet.
Self-discipline has been instrumental to fulfilling my academic and athletic aspirations. Waking up at 5am to start my daily regiment of completing an extra workout and utilizing morning study sessions have paid great dividends. I strive each day, with my work ethic and commitment to excellence, to improve in my spiritual, mental, psychological and physical disciplines in the classroom, on the field and in my daily life. I am blessed to have a family that has taught me about accountability, goal setting, achievement and humility.
