Personal Statement
Academics and baseball have been at the forefront of my life. Throughout grade school I have achieved the highest academic accolades in achieving honor rolls and playing at the highest level of travel ball since the age of seven. I have enjoyed playing the game of baseball since I was very young. Some of my earliest memories were having my dad teaching me to hit and field ground balls. As time passed my enthusiasm and love for the game grew as well. Even as early as my years in travel ball, I set a goal not only to play high school baseball but reach my academic goals. The balance of academics and athletics are preparing to play beyond high school at a competitive level. A college baseball program with a strong academic structure, will provide an environment to achieve my potential as a student and an athlete.
My athletics have enabled me to learn how to work in a team environment - being a motivator, leader and teacher to my peers. I have received compliments from my coaches for being coachable, driven and a hard worker. I think my drive and enthusiasm are contagious. I have always maintained my composure during all aspects of the game and respected my coaches and umpires.
My academic accomplishments are highlighted by attending several Honors courses and maintaining a weighted GPA of 4.37. I am currently seeking involvement in my Student Government. I am active in school activities and community programs. I enjoy both the challenges academically and those on the baseball field.
South Florida baseball is well known for its competitive nature. I am attending a high school which competes against quality competition. I was fortunate to gain the confidence of the Assistant Varsity Coach as a Freshman to play every game and in multiple positions. I was able to start at second base as my primary position, outfield, third base and pitcher.
In summary, academics and baseball have been my focus throughout my life. I have been able to find the balance to excel in both areas. I will continue to represent my school and teams with the utmost respect and integrity both on and off the field. Understanding that my actions will always reflect my team, my coaches and my school.
I feel that my character, academics, and athletic ability will be an asset to your college.
