My name is Charles (Charlie) Ushijima and currently attend Iolani School in Honolulu, Hawaii. I have been playing baseball since the age of five and my ambition is to further my opportunity to play Division I Baseball. My primary position has been a starting pitcher and when not pitching, have been starting in the infield or outfield.
Besides playing baseball, I have been playing football from the age of five and was the starting quarterback for Iolani School's Intermediate team. When not in school or at practice, I like to train to develop my skills in baseball. Various training that I do are speed/quickness, strength, pitching, fielding, and hitting.
Being at Iolani School has helped me become more responsible and conscientious both as a student and player. The importance of "TEAM" and "COMMITMENT" are values that are important to me and will help me pursue life after baseball. Iolani School has provided me a solid education and helped me achieve those values. However, being part of a "TEAM" sport provides the foundation to face adversity, manage tough situations, and create life long relationships with my teammates, coaches, and institution . Having the opportunity to play NCAA Baseball will enhance my growth in becoming a better individual and help me become a positive contributing member of society. I hope to have the opportunity to play Division I baseball and be a team leader who will help my fellow teammates achieve their own goals as well as team success and be a positive role model for the University.
