My name is Marty Torres Jr. I am currently 17 years old and am about to enter my last season of high school and summer baseball. I'm a solid ballplayer and am best on the field. My former coaches will say I'm a great infielder with quick, soft hands and a quick release. I make few errors. I am also a solid hitter and I am mostly known for consistently getting on base with hard singles. I have been playing high school baseball all 4 years. My freshman year I was moved up to the junior varsity team as a starting second baseman, and have played second base and shortstop for varsity since. I have been on many travel teams since I was 7 years old. It has led me to see a lot of great competition and raise my level of skills. All my life I have wanted to play baseball at the highest level possible. I strive for perfection. I am a true student of the game. Playing college baseball would be a tremendous achievement in my life. I am not naive and understand my chances of making it it past college baseball are difficult but am prepared to accept that challenge and confident in my skills and ability to contribute to a successful baseball club. I would like to study journalism in college to become a writer. Writing has always been a strong suite of mine and I enjoy it. A secondary major I have in mind is history. I have always been interested in society and how we have evolved from our past. I have a lot to do in order to be a successful student and a collegiate athlete, but I am willing to work hard to get what I want.
