Hello, my name is Daryl Okeke and I have deep fervor for running. The thought of running competitively had never actually crossed my mind until early 7th grade. This thought first occurred to me when I was playing soccer at the park, and I suddenly realized how riveting it is to beat someone to the ball. That feeling alone was the start of my entire track & field career. Before that year, I hadn't played any sports except for basketball. That year, I ended up registering for basketball, soccer, and track & field. In my 7th grade track & field season, I made it to the state finals meet and set a PR of 59.25 for the 400m. I have set even more 400m dash PRs since then. I truly aspire to be different and by different, I mean unique. My goal is to stay true to myself and encourage people to pursue their goals just like I am . A useful attribute of mine that makes me a good candidate for a team is my ability to be coached. I have worked so hard on being an approachable athlete that can take constructive criticism in any area. Academically, I always do pretty well and excell simply because I try. When I try to do something, I won't go in half way, it is a full commitment reinforced with ambition and determination. I am aware that I might not currently be the best of the best at what I do, but as long as I know that I'm the best that I can be then that's plenty enough for me.
