Personal Statement
I am a senior at Crystal Lake South, and am excited about taking my baseball career and studies to the next level. I know it takes hard work and dedication to be successful, so I always give 110% effort, whether in school, at home, on the wrestling mat, or on the baseball field. The great thing about sports is that through all the blood, sweat, and tears, an athlete builds character and learns many life lessons. One of my favorite lessons is that when things do not go my way, I have to learn to rebound and continue on.
I have enjoyed playing on the same travel baseball team for the past eight years. Between travel ball and my high school team, I have had the opportunity to gain expertise in several positions, including catcher, pitcher, center fielder, and recently, middle infielder. I believe this is a testament to my athletic ability and versatility.
I've had great baseball mentors over the years, and hope to be able to pass along my love of the game to future generations. To me, there is nothing better than doing well, in a great competitive game of baseball!
In high school, I have enjoyed leadership and community service opportunities, through my involvement in our IDEALS SALT (Student Athlete Leadership Team) Program. I have also participated in teaching opportunities, by frequently volunteering to tutor in math. In the future, I plan to earn a degree in the medical sciences, and to continue developing into a well-rounded individual, through my experiences on and off the baseball field.
