Through firefighting, missions and baseball, I have found the kind of man I wish to be: one of teamwork, compassion, altruism, hard work and faithfulness. While it is important to be your best and to work hard, there is also great value in teamwork, a lesson well-taught through team sports. In baseball you must trust your teammates, and you must perform so that they trust you, too. You must be a unified machine, working as individual gears for the good of the whole. This is true on and off the field. On the field, these sports have taught me the power of not only working hard but working hard together. As a pitcher, I must throw pitches that benefit the team as a whole. I also know that off the field I must continue to do my part shown through me being 8th and 9th in power cling and pound for pound respectively.
