My name is Brian Culver, I am a 18 year old 2024 right-handed Pitcher for the Indianapolis Kings Homeschool Varsity baseball team. Though I have been used as a 3rd Baseman, 2nd Baseman, and corner Outfielder, I recognize that pitching is where I play best, feel most comfortable, and could see a future at the next level of play. I am around 5 foot and 9 inches (and growing) and around 140 pounds. I live in Cicero, Indiana, and am a proud follower of Christ. I like to utilize a mix of 2-seamers and 4-seamers and a cutter to induce weak contact as my main out getters. I also have a slurve and hard slider, for swings and misses and to throw off a hitters timing. I also have a change up that I am working on controlling better. I’ve been blessed with good movement and use it to my advantage. I also will occasionally drop down and throw a pitch sidearm here and there (for strikes) to throw off hitters, alongside quick pitching and other techniques. Alongside being a diehard Chicago Cubs fan, I am a huge Iowa Hawkeyes and Indianapolis Colts fan. I also love playing my guitars and listening to music too. I have been taking online courses full-time through Indiana University High School since the start of the 2022-23 academic year. I previously attended University High School of Indiana for 3 years and played on the baseball team for 2 years (2020, 2021) at the junior varsity level and did not play in 2022 due to a partial Ulnar Collateral Ligament tear (which was repaired with an internal brace procedure, and fully rehabbed over 6 months) that I sustained during fall baseball in 2021. I previously played travel baseball with the Indy Titans from 11-12U, Imavex Orange for 13U, the Indiana Colts for 14-15U, and the Indiana Mustangs at the 16U level (Summer 2021) alongside a slew of teams beforehand. Since receiving a blessing and being granted an extra year of eligibility due to not playing in 2022 due to injury, I have been working hard to improve my velocity, pitch control, pitch movement, and mechanics, alongside strength and conditioning. I feel as if I have a lot of muscle mass that I can build up too with the correct training and conditioning. I have be used as a starting pitcher but feel most comfortable in the bullpen, though am 100% open to any role. I have also been working to catch up academically and improve my grades during this time, and continue to do so. Coming from a baseball family, I have been playing baseball since I was very young and hope to be able to play for a great team at the next level collegiately, and to seize any opportunity I could be blessed to have to keep playing the game I love. Despite a long road to where I stand currently, I believe more can lay ahead through hard work and perseverance. Thank you for taking precious time to read my statement/story - I hope I can one day play for your program.
At the moment I am still still working to get up to date and accurate stats, personal bests, and data, alongside fully setting up this profile; apologies for any lack of information currently!
