I am a 16- year old dedicated and passionate athlete. I play 2nd base and short stop. I believe that I have the skills, determination, and character to contribute to a team both on and off the field. From a young age, baseball has been an core part of my life. I was introduced to the sport by my father, who instilled in me the values of hard work, discipline, and repetition. In addition, I was introduced to a coach at a young age who not only was an amazing coach, but a great mentor who shaped me as a leader on the field. He helped me to see beyond being an individual player, but rather, one of 9 on the field and who motivated me to raise the bar with standards of excellence for myself and my teammates.
In my junior high career, I had the privilege of playing for a competitive travel baseball team that consistently challenged me to improve my skills and knowledge of the game. In my high school career, I had been able to demonstrate those skills in JV as well as Varsity starting line-up. As a result of the coaching, hard work and demonstration of key skills, I had been invited to be a part of an elite travel baseball team and am developing versatile skills that allow me to contribute to various positions. Whether it is playing pitcher, infielder or outfielder, I am always ready to adapt and give my best effort to help my team be successful.
Coach Corey Stoner at Jimtown High School has been the varsity high school baseball coach and he is also our varsity high school football coach. He had encouraged me to play football and develop new skills and fortitude. Because I have proven to work hard and show determination, I have been able to play starting cornerback/safety my sophomore year and look forward to continuing to play high school football throughout the rest of my high school career. Although football gives me great skills and is value added for my athletic career, baseball is always the sport I love most and prefer to continue in my college career.
In addition to my skills on the field, I believe that my leadership skills and dedication to the team make me a valuable asset to any team that I have the privilege to play with. I understand the importance of trust, respect and collaboration and being a positive role model for my fellow teammates and respect for my coaches. Because these values are instilled in me, I will be upholding these principles throughout my college career.
Throughout high school, I have maintained a strong academic record and am consistently prioritizing my studies but also dedicating whatever it takes to training and developing my skills on the field. I am excited, grateful and humbled by the opportunity to contribute to the success of any baseball program and continue my athletic growth in the collegiate level. I am confident that my character, skills and grit will make me a valuable addition to any team.
