Personal Statement
Growing up playing ball since I was four years old has taught me many things about myself and the sport of baseball. The game has influenced me in many ways that I never thought possible. I've learned to be very tough, work hard, and always demonstrate good character on and off the field. Off the field, my family has always pushed me to do the right thing, always work harder than the next guy and always give a 110% in anything I do. My parents have helped mold me into the young man I am today and if there is one thing I could ever do to make them proud, it would be to continue my education and baseball career at the next level. I have always had love for the sport, but it increased when I began playing select baseball. I knew I wanted to play this sport as long as possible when my select team won the championship game in the state tournament, which exposed me to competitiveness at a new level. The feeling of winning that tournament truly sparked an ever lasting desire in my heart to pursue this sport to the highest level.
One of my goals in high school is to make a 27 on my ACT and be ranked in the top 20 in my class for academics. At the collegiate level in the classroom, my goals are to maintain honor roll throughout college and graduate with a 3.5 GPA at minimum. To reach the point I'm at in life today, I had to overcome many things. Specifically, I was once told that I would never play catcher at a high school level because I was just not good enough. Being told that, pushed me to play the sport to the maximum level of competing.
