Personal Statement

Ever since I was little, I have fallen in love with the game of baseball. The first time I picked up a bat and glove in t-ball, I knew baseball was something I loved. I would really like to pursue my baseball career into college and I believe I have the skills athletically and the mental determination to accomplish that. What makes me different from the average candidate? It's pretty easy for college coach's to find players with the above average athletic skills and great grades. It's hard for coach's to find players who are leaders, excellent teammates and that compete to their best potential all the time even when themselves, and their team is struggling. Players that pick up and cheer on their teammates through the rough times, players that give 100% in the game, practice, and in the classroom. I believe I am one of those players. I've been told countless amounts of times by coach's, parents, and players themselves about how much of a leader and selfless guy I am when it comes to playing baseball. I am a player that thrives under pressure especially when the team needs me the most. I always want my game to improve and my team to excel. I have a desire to become a college baseball player because I hold a super high standard for myself academically, emotionally, and athletically. I push myself every single day whether I am in the weight room, on the field, on the mound, or just in the classroom. I've set a goal since my freshman year of high school to maintain all A's through the entirety of my high school life. I am currently in the beginning of my senior year and I have kept that goal and plan on maintaining it. I currently have a 4.333 GPA and plans on only going up as I'm taking more AP classes this year. I truly believe I possess the characteristics for academic excellence, athletic achievement, and team leadership. My focus is on earning a degree in criminal justice or sports medicine (still undecided) while playing college baseball. The game of baseball has taught me so much to the fact that I can achieve what I set my eyes upon if I just keep pushing to become the best version of myself (athletically, mentally, and academically). My freshman year of baseball I pulled in above national average freshman stats on my freshman team in several categories.   (strikeouts, batting average, and OBP). What makes me a unique player is I'm very versatile in the field and can play every position very well and comfortably (with the exception of catcher). I am 6'2 currently and still growing as I am only 16 years old right now. Although I feel I'm a very good athlete, I know I have a lot to improve on and a lot of things I need to do to grow and become a better baseball athlete. I would prefer to play in Michigan , Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky, but I am very open to other opportunities. Something too that separates me from a lot of baseball players, is that I have the determination and perseverance to become a better baseball player and overall athlete. I find myself and I've been told that I am a very coachable player, because in my mind, there is always another way for me to become a better athlete. In conclusion, I put in 15-20 hours a week of individual work on becoming better. Deep down, I just want the opportunity to play baseball, the sport I love, for a college/university that has the same passion as I do. I feel I'm capable academically, athletically, and physically to make it to the next level. I am very confident that I will be an asset to my team for whichever coach chooses me for my college baseball career.
