Personal Statement

I have many goals in life, and I am willing to do what it takes to reach them.   Being an integral part of a championship team, continuing to grow as a player, and preparing to become a business owner and optometrist are goals that push me to put in work on a daily basis.   I have loved baseball since I was 9 years old, and I dream of owning a business centered on player development.   When I started catching for the high school team in 8th grade, we had a goal to win the Mississippi 1A Championship and that goal was accomplished this year.  The new goal is to win it again during my senior year!

I am determined to do what it takes to be the best player for my team.   I earned first team all-conference and second team all-state as a freshman.  My sophomore year was disrupted due to COVID-19, but that has not slowed me down.  As the starting catcher for Easley Baseball Club Foster 16U, I have a batting average of .333, OBP 0.550, and OPS of 0.920.  We have competed against some of the top teams in the nation with an impressive record of 20-3-1, and four of our pitchers have committed to Mississippi State and the University of Mississippi.  My calm demeanor and soft, quick hands helped pitchers to be their best and helped my team to become  the 46th ranked team  in the National Perfect Game 16U Team Rankings in 2020.  My junior year, I batted fourth in the lineup with an average of .429, OBP .529, SLG .738, OPS 1.267, CS% 35.29, 41 RBI, 13 2B, 2 3B, 3 HR earning first team all-division and the 1A Scholar Athlete Award.

I plan to get a B.S. in Business with an emphasis in either marketing or entrepreneurship while getting my prerequisites for optometry.   I am committed to maintaining excellent grades to help me achieve my goal.   Time management skills to balance studying with training is one of my strengths.   I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends, playing guitar,  fishing, and attending sporting events at Mississippi State University.  I have seen the benefits of my hard work, and I will continue to work harder to attain my goals.
