Personal Statement
I have been a huge fan of baseball since I was about 5. My favorite part of baseball is hitting. Hitting has always come naturally, but as the game has gotten harder, I spend a lot of time with my dad and coaches working on developing and mastering a better technique. When I was about 7, I remember my dad working with me on my swing. He was squatting in front of me holding a ball explaining something. Being young I wasn't listening well and was thinking to myself all I want to do is hit the ball. I heard my dad say swing, so I did, blasting him in the ear with my bat. Drowning in determination, I went 9 out of 10. Ever since then, I have understood how to hit with pressure, and I have paid better attention. An at bat to me is not just about hitting the ball, but the excitement of the situation I’m in. For instance, whether or not I need to sacrifice myself to get a run or move a runner. I know if I need a base hit and when to put my best effort into being able to come through for the team.
I am a very coachable player and have always been very adaptable to change. Growing up I have played many positions on the baseball diamond. I have always pushed for good grades and have always had a good work ethic. Over the years I have held straight A’s, and I always will hold myself accountable to hold these grades high. I believe I would make a great asset to a college team and would push to be the best player I could be. I have always been a student of the game and have studied this sport a lot. I understand the playing of the game, including rules, and I am able to understand certain strategies of teams. In the classroom, I am a studious person who enjoys learning, and hopes for a great higher education. I intend on attending college and getting a degree that can get me a job later on down the road.
