Personal Statement

For as long as I can remember, my dream has been to play college baseball. Baseball is my first love, and I know playing college ball is no easy feat. Trying to achieve this goal has helped shape me as a person in many ways.

I have learned to become a leader on the baseball field and in the classroom. I enjoy helping people and giving them tips on how to improve. I am one of the most coachable players you will find, as stated by many past and present coaches. I am a great listener and can pick up on things very quickly. I have a first in first out mentality. I strive to be the first to practice and I am always the last one out.  I often will stay after and take extra batting practice or field ground balls with my dad, or help teammates with things they need to work on. I  am a very versatile player and can be utilized in every position on the field, except catcher.  I can play each position for you, and I will play it well.  I am a flexible and dependable player.

As a student, I am always working to improve my education.  I am well respected by my teachers and my peers. I want to attend a college where I can reach my full potential in both academics and athletics.  My goal is to find the best college that suits me academically and a college that allows me to compete in the sport I love. I believe I can make a difference in the college I attend, and the team that I play for.  I will leave knowing I made a lasting mark on the community and my peers.

  • Zach continues to shine in his baseball abilities on the diamond. At SS, he shows smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active and displays proper footwork in squaring balls up. Hands are clean but needs to present earlier and more out front. He utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with carry (81 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (83 mph velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At the event, he was 4 for 5 with 2 2B. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 70-72 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a great teammate and is very coachable on the field.
  • Camp/Event
  • Baseball National Showcase
  • 5/21/23 to 5/21/23
  • Baseball Factory National Showcase: Zach continues to show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. He did show in the OF for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.03 runner. At SS, defensive abilities are solid as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is firm and presents out front. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls plays through with momentum to his target. He utilizes his foot quickness in tracking down balls. Throws are accurate with carry (81 mph velocity) but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (93 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn.

  • Zach is a 2024 SS/RHP prospect with a tall frame at 6'3" 163 pounds. At SS, he shows off active feet and range to all angles. He has firm hands and he gets in a good low, squared fielding position. Really does a nice job on ground balls and with his forehand, and recorded a raw velo of 81 MPH. His exchange is clean and he makes accurate throws from different arm slots with a quick release. On the mound, he does a nice job of gathering his balance over the rubber and of squaring himself off towards his target with his stride. He works downhill and shows a little deception with his offerings. Works hard to get more of a leg drive and consistently repeat his delivery. At the plate, he starts with a squared stance and has an on-time stride. He gets a good load and has an engaged lower half. Bat angle works and he has a short, direct swing path to contact. Works hard to create more extension, and sprays line drives to all fields.
