Personal Statement
Ever since I was a little boy, I have always dreamed of playing in the majors. It started off as a childish dream, but now it is a one of my goals. I started off as a mediocre ball player that batted 8th and made plenty of errors. I did not understand the full concept of being a well rounded/talented player and I did not grasp the concept of a higher baseball IQ. But as I progressed, I realized that my level of competitiveness and dedication needed to surpass those around me as well as future competitors in order to succeed in the game of baseball. My work ethic has completely changed, from "becoming better" at my games and practices, to being a leader and training every single day. But baseball is not the only aspect in life as grades are much more important to me. As my father always tells me, "You are a very talented baseball player who should always look at your baseball skills, not your academics, as your limiting factor." The way I work towards achieving my baseball skills is applied to my school work 100%. Knowing I get A's in school alone makes me feel better. This is a feeling that I will maintain during my 4 years in high school and through college. My goal has never been to beat out the baseball players in my grade, it has always been to beat out the oldest and most talented players I can possibly play with, and the rest will follow. On every team I play for, I will always lead my team by example. As a team, you are only as strong as your weakest player, and I will never be that player. I look forward to the challenges that are ahead of me and the opportunities my dedication may provide.
