Being a dual sport athlete has helped me grow and understand the importance of team work, communication, passion and dedication in order to be successful. These skills are useful not only in sports and education but in all aspects of life. I have always strived to push myself with the goal and vision of taking the next steps of playing the next level of competitiveness.
My passion and dedication have led me to become team captain for my baseball team. My coaches and teammates recognized my ability and drive, while pushing me to grow. Being a captain has taught me how to share my expertise, give guidance and provide a different perspective while utilizing my baseball IQ that I have obtained through my many years of playing baseball at various different positions. The positions I have played are third base, second, shortstop, the outfield, and I pitch. I enjoy and excel under the pressure that the role of captain has provided and have found that the characteristics that make a great captain also make a great leader. The skills I have learned in baseball have transitioned into other aspects of my life. I became the starting goalie for my school soccer team while helping lead the team to the State finals match. All of the skills, challenges, mentorship and learning that sports has provided me solidified my ability to take charge and be a leader.
In school I boast a high GPA while taking the most challenging courses my school has to offer. I am involved in honors, AP and college credit classes while maintaining my position on The National Honor Society. I take pride in challenging myself not only physically but in mindset too; that is the best way to improve and the only way to grow. I am involved with many extra-curriculars which all play a vital role in making me a well-rounded person.
I strive to balance my very challenging course-load, extracurriculars, sport life, and personal life to the best of my ability and despite having room for improvement, I do a good job at it. I am a very competitive person because I believe competing against others is a very useful tool you can use to improve and learn. I know I am ready for the life of a college athlete because I have the experience of balancing a heavy workload, I have the competitive nature needed to thrive and I crave challenges.
