My baseball path started off with my parents helping me learn the game. They both have a passion for the game of baseball and softball respectively. My uncle also competed in the major leagues as a lefty pitcher which started me on the path to becoming a lefty pitcher. He has taught me the mechanics of pitching as well the types of pitches themselves. He played his college baseball at New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates. As a pitcher I have great accuracy and strong mental fortitude. I’m able to block out noise and lock in on the mound all the time. At the plate I love to go the other way but when I get the right pitch, I would turn on it and crush it. Through playing the sport I have learned that even though I’m the pitcher, I need a team behind me and at the plate. It’s taught me that I have had great passion and love for the sport and that I feel at home playing it. When I was young I watched baseball all of the time. I learned many things from watching and how to play many positions. I loved to watch Paul Goldschmidt at first and David Price on the mound. Andrew McCutchen was my favorite player, even though I wasn’t an outfielder. I also have realized that there is more for me to learn and explore through the game. Many coaches have told me that I have developed well as a player through my good listening. I have overcome a couple of injuries too. I realized that being injured and not playing is no fun. It actually was very difficult not being on the field. Playing sports in college is not the only thing that I care about. I have some academic goals too. I would like to major in sports management/studies and possibly a minor in education. This would enable me to have the option of teaching social studies if sports management/studies was not available.
