Tyler McGary '12 Recruiting Profile

Hi, my name is Tyler McGary. I attend Union Local High School in Belmont, Ohio. I am senior and have a 4.22 weighted GPA while also taking classes at Ohio University Eastern through post-secondary options. I am one of our schools two representatives on the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference (OVAC) Varsity Board; I am President of our West Division, which includes 12 schools. I'm also President of the National Honor Society (NHS). While I also play basketball, baseball is my first love. I've been playing since I was five and played on the West Virginia Panhandle Cubs Travel team for five seasons(ages 10-14). We played in hundreds of games and numerous tournaments across the following states: Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Delaware, New York, and Maryland. We won several tournaments and finished runner-up in the Beast of the East, losing by one run our 14 year-old season. I started varsity baseball for the Union Local Jets my freshman season. We went 14-9, which became the second best record in school history. I played LF and pitched, and was named an Eastern Ohio Baseball League (EOBL) All-Star. My sophomore year our team compiled the best record in school history at 20-6 en route to a sectional championship. I started a majority of my games in LF and on the mound, but I also started two games at 2B, one in CF, and I also played SS and 1B. I batted 3rd and led our team in RBI's while batting .450 and earning the following accolades: 1st Team Ohio Valley Athletic Conference (OVAC), EOBL All-Star, 2nd Team Eastern District and Honorable Mention All-Valley. Our junior season was severly rain shortened with multiple weeks where we didn't play any games. Our team went 11-7 and lost in the sectional championship. I spent most of the season at 1B and on the mound but also played SS and 2B. I was named EOBL All-Star, 2nd Team Eastern District, and 3rd Team All-Valley. I have an open mind as to where I will attend college and would like to major in Accounting/Finance. I would like to play baseball at the highest level possible and can contribute a great work ethic along with a very competitive drive and positive attitude.
