Personal Statement
I love playing baseball. I would love to play college baseball and I know that it takes a lot of work to get to that level. I am sure you have heard this from all the players that want to join your team and play for you. So what is it that sets me apart from other players? Why should you choose me above other players?
First of all, honesty and integrity are very important to me. I am a Christian - it is the core of who I am as a person. An example of my integrity is that during one game I was rounding first base and realized I didn't touch first base so I went back and made sure I touched it. I was later commended by the umpire for my honesty as he did not notice that I hadn't touched. I could have gotten away with going on to second but I knew that wouldn't have been the right thing to do.
Second, I have a deep love for the game. I started playing ball at a very young age but only played for a couple of seasons then I didn't want to continue. Later in the 7th grade I decided I wanted to try ball again. My dad was so excited. He wanted to help start a team at my middle school but there weren't enough players to make a team. My dad and I worked hard on our own and in 9th grade I made the varsity team at my high school. I put in a lot of time on my own to help improve my skills to make up for the fact that I have not played ball my whole life like a lot of the other players that want to be on your team.
What do I want to do with my life after college ball? Well I'd love to be able to continue to play baseball at some level but I know that doesn't work out for everyone. If I can't continue with ball as a career then I'd like to be able to use the degree I earn in college to do something that involves working with my hands, a skilled trade of some kind. Academics do not come easily for me but I put in extra effort there as well to try to do the best I can.
