As a home schooled student I played rec baseball only from age two and a half until my sophomore year in high school. Although there were new kids each year, for the most part, I played with the same group of kids each year. When I began playing with the local high school team my sophomore year, for the first time I was playing ball with kids I didn’t know or have any connections with. It was a big adjustment for me and I had to learn to be a team player with kids I didn’t know. It taught me a lot about myself as a person as well as a ball player.
I have loved playing baseball since I can remember. I started watching and playing it when I was young and I have enjoyed it ever since. I love all aspects of the game: the pace, precision, and the challenges.
I have always looked forward to playing baseball every year, and I want to continue that as long as I can, while getting a good education at the same time. I also really enjoy the statistics and strategy of baseball, and am interested in possibly pursuing a career in this field.
I have high standards for myself and that is because I know that I answer to someone besides my coaches and myself. I am a Christian and I want to reflect well on God as well as my family and my team. I have a strong work ethic and I am continuing to work on developing my mental toughness. I work hard at baseball because I love the sport and enjoy playing and I believe I would be an asset to any coach and his team.
