Personal Statement

In college I hope to learn the base foundation that will allow me to build my own business and provide opportunity for other people.  I hope to embrace some socially involved activities that build on my skill-sets that may be used later in life, these could include working as a team member, learning to influence people positively, and convey goals and concepts.

As a team player, I am hard working and have a great attitude.  I realize this is a a journey of steps and my success as well as the success I contribute to a team is a set of building blocks that need focus everyday.

I hope for the opportunity to be part of a team that can grow me as a person.  Also, I hope to have an opportunity to play in the Collegiate World Series.  I believe the collegiate experience should help shape me and be a place that can further allow me to chase my dream of being an MLB player.  I focus hard on training and skills, I believe if I am beat it is because someone is better, or just physically more advanced.  I will never be beaten because I was outworked.  I do not focus on other players, I focus on whether I was better than the last time I played and what I can improve each time.  As an example, my father helped me understand my plate approach this year.  I discovered, when I lived with my At Bat within a 3.75 pitch average my batting average was over .500, when I went deeper in counts and was forced to swing at pitches around my zone I sank to averages lower than .250 with more frequent strikeouts.  I have batted this summer season over .550 with multiple triples and 60% doubles.  This is a result of understanding each game situation and my ability as a player as I grow.

As an athlete I will strive to always demonstrate the best character and represent my team and self.  In athletics I will strive to be better, stronger, faster and more knowledgeable than the day before.  In academics I will strive to maintain above average and learn to grow as a person.  This, I understand because knowledge is power to shape my world and contributions to the world.
