The PBR Future Games will take place on August 1st through 4th at Grand Park in Indianapolis, IN. Nearly every top college program in the nation is in attendance at this event! Players will also receive maximum visibility from college coaches, in addition to being promoted through the Prep Baseball Report multimedia platforms. Only players who have a legitimate shot at being a Division I recruit and who have an interest in the possibility of making a verbal commitment during their sophomore or junior seasons will be considered. The PBR Future Games is the premier summer scouting event for Class of 2020 and 2021 prospects. The Prep Baseball Report services are subscribed by more than 750 colleges and pro scouts. Only 20-24 players will be selected to participate for Team Tennessee. The registration fee for this event is only $100. This registration fee is non-refundable. However, if a player commits prior to the event, he will be unable to participate and will be refunded the registration fee.   • OF continued to show off his advanced hit tool, collecting a couple hits in game. 6-1, 185-pounder features a medium, athletic frame w/ well-proportioned present strength throughout, some physical projection. Offensively, hits w/ a slightly open, upright stance w/ short hand rhythm into leg kick to square and proper load. Leg kick is a new addition since we saw him last. Showed ability to control his lower half and stay through the baseball. Knack for barrel, consistent hard contact. All fields approach w/ lot of line drives when right. Put on a show in BP on day 2, delivering consistent hard contact and numerous home runs to his pull side. Learning to consistently get to his power in game, projectable all fields power. Defensively, shows ability to cover ground in the OF w/ good bat reads. Developing arm strength w/ carry to target.

  • Exit Velocity: 94 6-foot-1, 180-pound, RHH showed off an advanced bat, collecting 3 hits and making a number of nice in game plays in LF. Medium, athletic profile w/ well-proportioned present strength, some physical projection. Offensively, hits w/ a slightly open, slightly crouched stance w/ very short hand rhythm into leg kick to square and proper load. Generates premium bat speed through the zone. Quiet, repeatable swing w/ still head. Explodes on the baseball. All fields approach, line drives all over the field when right. Aggressive approach, wants to swing the bat, shows ability to hit nearly everything, including hitting a double to right center field on a 89 mile per FB even with his head. Projectable power to all fields. Projectable slightly above average runner. Defensively, moves well in the OF w/ ability to cover ground, made a couple in game plays in the OF, tracking the baseball well. Arm was tired leading in to today, typically shows better arm strength than what we saw. Also worked out at SS, showed solid hands w/ arm slot playing better on the dirt than we have seen previously. Super athletic ability to play anywhere, but projects best in CF for us.

In the field, Lawrence shows active footwork and centers the ball in the middle of his body. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and works to keep his throws accurate to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting into his load and maintains center balance. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed which leads to consistent contact and line drives. Lawrence is a skilled prospect who has upside on the diamond.

In the OF, feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through well with momentum to his target. Glove action is soft and he presents well, utilizing two hands through the process. Range is a plus as he utilizes his quick / athletic feet well in covering a lot of ground. At SS, hands / feet work well together through the fielding process. He shows off his athletic actions on his feeds / turns of the double play. Feet are aggressive in attacking ground balls but will benefit by playing through more with his body. Throws are accurate with on line carry to his target. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup with rhythm and balance. Hands are explosive (91 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a plus feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

Defensively, incorporated his legs better into his OF throws, still learning to do that while maintaining a quality release time.

Offensively, Lawrence has a square setup and centered balance. He has a good load and takes a short stride. Lawrence lets the ball travel and has a long swing path. He has the ability to spray the ball to all fields and can drive the ball to the opposite field. In the outfield, Lawrence plays with quick footwork and takes the correct angles to cover good ground in each direction laterally. He attacks the baseball and fields it in an athletic position. Lawrence receives the ball with a firm glove and is working to speed up his exchange. He plays with momentum through the baseball and throws with a long, loose arm action from a high 3/4 slot. His throws are online with good carry. At SS, Lawrence plays with active footwork and good body control as he looks especially smooth to his glove side. He presents his glove and fields the ball in a square position. He has a clean exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a high 3/4 slot. He plays through the baseball showing strong throws across the diamond. Overall, Lawrence talent on both sides of the ball and good upside to get even better.

  • 03/05/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Chattanooga, TN Lawrence is a tall, lean (6'1�, 165lbs) SS/OF prospect with ability to play both positions at a high level. He shows advanced feel at the dish with a smooth setup and swing with the ability to make hard contact to all fields. He sets up square in the box with a strong load and stride to activate his lower half and generate fast bat speed. He shows a direct, balanced path to the ball to make consistent, hard contact with feel for the barrel and line drives sprayed to all fields. In the outfield, he has active footwork and is adept going back on the ball hit over his head. He fields square to the ball with soft, presented hands and works through to get momentum to the target on his throws. At short, he is agile moving to both sides to field and he gets square to the ball to keep everything in front. He has clean hands and makes good DP feeds and turns. A long toss program will improve arm strength and allow him to stay at short long term. Lawrence is a nice, young prospect who has potential on the field.

As a hitter, this righty has quiet/simple actions waiting for a pitch he likes. Hands work well through a level path as he engages his lower 1/2 to create torque, resulting in some pop off of the barrel. At SS, he actively works around the GB and into a square fielding position. Hands are presented out in front as he gathers and has a clean exchange to throw. Continuing to develop his footwork / agility will aid in his development on the left side of the INF. This 2020 grad has a ton of upside on the diamond.
