Warren Rudman '21 Recruiting Profile

When I was a little kid my Dad played basketball. My Dad loved basketball.  He would get up at 4 in the morning to go play at the local church with some of his friends. He would watch every Mavs game in a season. Basketball was a part of him, and I as a little kid wanted something like that. I wanted to compete. I wanted to invest myself completely into something the way my dad did.

One day I turned on the TV, and I saw a guy running toward a little white ball next to this really tall green wall. I watched for a couple minutes and decided that whatever they were doing looked like fun. My Dad told me they were playing baseball. He said that I could too if I wanted. So as a seven year old I played my first baseball game and I never looked back.

Since then I have learned a lot about baseball. I have learned its history. I have learned how it is more than just a game. It is a calling and one that only a few are called to. But baseball is also cruel and brutal. To love baseball I have learned how to deal with failure.  Not just how to move on from it but how to use failure to improve my game. I believe that God has called me to play this great game and I would love to continue that calling at the next level.
