Personal Statement

My favorite thing about baseball is having good relationships with my pitchers and making them look good - finding all the small things to work on to make the big improvements, grab the extra strikes, let them know they can depend on me back there so they can have the freedom to rare back and just throw it. I like to have fun and laugh, and in general I'm laid back, but I am intense about baseball. I like to talk and think about strategy, study the game and the players, work hard together with my guys to get better. Doing the little things well, hitting the weight room, focused practice and reps and seeing the improvement is very satisfying for me. My ideal place to play would be somewhere with a strong commitment to the pitching battery, where everyone is 100% in on team improvement and working hard to achieve set goals, and a coach with a detailed approach. I want to be surrounded by people who love the grind as much as they love the game, so that no matter where we are, we see progress, and no matter who we are, we bind together as a team. I plan to major in engineering or atmospheric science while pushing myself to become the best player I can possibly be.  I am a strong student.  I'm a man of my word and a team player - I will do whatever it takes to help the team move forward and contribute in whatever way I can to make it successful. Thank you for taking the time to view my profile.

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • PBR Houston Underclass Preseason ID
  • 1/11/20 to 1/11/20
  • Rough day. EV 91, 60 yard 7.66. Slipped and fell and tweaked my back - pop 2.10 and CV 76. Worst in a while. Couldn't complete the day and receive bullpens or do any blocking. Had to quit and go home.
  • Camp/Event
  • LSUE Prospect Camp
  • 12/30/19 to 12/30/19
  • Pop 1.91, Catcher Velo 78, 60 yard 7.57. BP several deep flies and multiple hard liners, a few grounders - hitting coach said he liked the way I swing the bat, spoke with me during and after.
  • Camp/Event
  • Texas Baseball Ranch Catcher Camp
  • 12/14/19 to 12/15/19
  • Opportunity to work with Coaches Eddie Rodriguez, Greg Brown, Tim Cossins, Jerry Weinstein, and Garrett and Ron Wolforth - took home MANY great drills, new info, warmup routines, and started working them into my workouts. Learned new ways to think about blocking late and receiving every pitch possible, how better to receive the breaking pitch, ways to protect myself for tag plays at the plate, more options to consider on pitch calling and why, and working out a hitch in my throw that allows my arm to come through more smoothly. Excited to get to work!
  • Camp/Event
  • McLennan Prospect Camp
  • 12/08/19 to 12/08/19
  • tweaked my groin in warmups and could not run, had some difficulty hitting and running to 1st - still did well on pops. Head and Pitching Coaches complimented me on my throw downs but have not replied to texts and emails so I don't have official numbers.
  • Camp/Event
  • San Diego Padres Workout
  • 12/07/19 to 12/07/19
  • Received invite from Regional Scout Kevin Hamm, 1.93 pop time, received 2 bullpens, and coaches commented on my work behind the plate both receiving and good stops. BP multiple deep flies and liners to all fields. Ran a 7.6 60 yard, said speed not an issue. Spoke with me about being unsigned.

  • 77 catcher velo, 1.95-1.99 pops to 2B (coach's comments- 5/5 on accuracy), 94 exit velo, 7.6 60. went 1/2 in the scrimmage with a single to right center and 2 stolen bases on balls in dirt. Multiple good blocks on balls in dirt. Coach Smith (pitching coach) spoke with me afterward -complimented me on my play, said he would like to recommend me to McLennan Juco - has known catching coach there for a long time and will speak with him about me. Coaches' feedback included workout to increase my speed, will be incorporating that into my workout. Good day!
  • Camp/Event
  • ULL Prospect Camp
  • 11/09/19 to 11/09/19
  • Not my best day. 73-75 catcher velo, 1.98-2.07 pops, 7.78 60, 87 exit velo - cutting under everything and not getting everything into the ball. Coach Deggs still spoke with me after, liked my receiving/blocking skills, said I will catch somewhere. They have a full set of catchers returning in 2021 but 2022 season they only have one - he would like me to get my bat up a little bit at a juco and try again with them at that time, and recommended I contact LSUE Coach Ordain, and use him for a reference when I do so.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
