Personal Statement
During my high school years, I played on varsity as a freshman at a very competitive 6A high school in Texas and I played almost every inning of every game on some of the best teams in the country with draftable talent. I had also been recognized by my coaches as being a top prospect. However, one of the highlights of my high school career was when I received a great compliment from a pro scout watching me play. He mentioned ... "As good a hitter and defensive player as you are, the thing I like the most about you is your character. "
My father gave me some great advice and I took it to heart. "Be a pro. Work like your circumstances doesn't matter. Stay focused on improving your skills as much as possible so you can help your team win. Treat every practice like it's game 7 of the World Series. Be the sparkplug of the team whether you are playing or not. Keep believing you will get in the game to help get the win. Someone will notice," he told me. "And, you will have the support and respect of your teammates when you get your chance." That advice has changed my life. I have learned how to put my team first. This has helped me mature as an individual. I am ready to put everything I have on the field, every game and I won't stop there. As soon as the game is over, I will be preparing for the next one.
