Personal Statement
My name is Joey Baker and I will be a 2015-2016 senior at Cuero High School. I have been playing baseball since I was 6 years old as well as being chosen for 5 Little League All-Star Teams based in Victoria, Texas. Throughout those years I played several positions varying from pitcher, outfielder and first base. As a freshman in high school I was on the Junior Varsity team but was moved up to Varsity for the playoffs and as a sophomore I was the starting right fielder for Varsity. This past year as a junior I was the starting center fielder and the number two pitcher. I hit for average from the left side and have a good on base percentage as well as fast speed and a good glove. I also do a good job handling the bat and bunting.
I know that playing baseball at the college level is a once in a lifetime opportunity and even though there is room for improvement I believe that I have the skills to do just that. I consider myself to have team leadership skills as well as the ability to encourage my teammates. After college I would like to become a teacher and high school baseball coach, encouraging kids to do their best and follow their dreams.
