Personal Statement
Ever since I was little, field hockey has been a part of my life. With my mother as a coach, I picked up my first field hockey stick at a very young age. The options for field hockey in Kansas City are limited, but my passion for the sport has taught me to capitalize on opportunities at home and elsewhere. I regularly attend camps and clinics locally and have also pursued my interest in St. Louis, Connecticut, and Michigan. Sports have been a big influence on who I am today. I play four sports throughout the year, three for my high school. Although we do not have a field hockey state tournament in Missouri, I was fortunate enough to also make varsity basketball as a freshman and help my team on the journey to becoming district champions. Being a freshman on the varsity field hockey team was intimidating the first couple of games, but my teammates were supportive, encouraging, and appreciative of the skills I could bring to the team. This inspired me to do the same for younger players as I go through my high school years. Sports have taught me the importance of commitment, hard work, dedication, and being a good team member.
These are the reasons I would love to play a sport in college. I'm excited about the opportunity to play field hockey at the college level and to continue to grow my knowledge and skills.
