There is a rule in my family that you have to play at least one sport during your school year. I only wanted to do basketball, but my mom made me try field hockey. I did not want to play field hockey and just do basketball, but I am very glad I did. The first day of practice my coach said that we needed a goalie. I wasn't thinking of being a goalie, but my teammates voted me in and I am very glad they did because since then, I have grown to love field hockey. I started playing club team for the Charlotte Ambush after my second season of outdoor at Holy Trinity Middle School. In 8th grade that's when I really gained confidence in my ability and in myself from playing field hockey. Then when I went to play for my high school team I played for varsity for two weeks and went to two tournament with them. At the beginning of the season I was moved to JV because I would be able to start unlike varsity where I would not get as much playing time. During the season we let in a combined total of six goals in all despite having games where I had to make 15+ saves. We had a great season and were first in our conference. I look forward to gaining more experience and pursuing my goal of playing field hockey in college while having fun.
