Personal Statement
My name is Justin McCready. This fall I will be a senior at Summerville High School and I will graduate with my class in the spring of 2016. I believe that am a good candidate to be a student/athlete at your school for several reasons.
I am a team player who has always excelled. I have improved each season and I am excited for any chance to compete and succeed - both on the field and off.
I have played football and various team sports for over half my life. In football this includes all levels of Pop Warner and then the last three years at Summerville High. My sophomore and junior seasons at the varsity level as a starter on both offense and defense. In 2014 as a junior, I was the Mother Lode League leader in both receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. I believe that I was also the MLL leader in special team return yardage as a kick returner and punt returner. At the conclusion of my junior year I was selected All Mother Lode League 1st Team Wide Receiver.
My athletic goals for the upcoming season and then beyond include to show continued improvement on both sides of the ball. My speed and ball catching ability will always be my greatest asset however I know that I can and that I will continue to develop skills necessary to compete at the next levels. I intend to work hard and with that, I'll will do all that's necessary to improve my physical strength and athletic endurance with regimented weight training programs and a dedicated focus on nutrition.
In addition to football, I have also had great success as a high school wrestler. I have wrestled at the high school varsity level for the past three years, last season finishing 2nd place in my weight class in the Mother Lode League as well as placing 2nd in our Section. I believe that wrestling has helped me in the development of skills which translate to the football field - speed, endurance, strength and focus, etc.
I will continue to improve academically. While I might have started slow, my high school transcript will show improvement each year. I am excited for the opportunity to grow, to improve and to succeed - not just on the field but in the classroom as well. I have always had success and I have always been a good teammate. I am confident in my abilities and I believe that if I am given an opportunity I will be worthy of your consideration.
