Personal Statement
Last season my team was the first team in San Diego County to win back to back CIF championships after moving up two divisions in a year. As a varsity starter on offense and defense, I was honored to be named to the 1st All League Team Defense as a junior. I work and practice hard both during the season as well as the off season every day. In my sophomore year of high school, my team won a state championship, and I was the only sophomore varsity starter. It was a position I earned, and I am always up for a challenge. For many years I have played up a level - since 6th grade. In 6th grade, I played with 7th graders and so on. In my freshman year of high school, I was the only freshman on the Junior Varsity team. Initially, the coach allowed me to be on the team but told me I would have to earn a starting position, and I did, again both on offense and defense as a Tackle. At the end of the season, I was honored by my team with an award for the best lineman.
One really great thing about my current team is that it includes 13 guys I played youth football with, so we have a common history together. But, I also played against many other former teammates because I've played football for so long and been a part of many All-Star teams, including 6th, 7th and 8th grade, as well as a member of the National All-Star team for the West in 2013 held at the Semper Fidelis Bowl. I work hard to beat those players on the field, but when the game is over, we can shake hands.
My immediate goal is to continue to excel in school and as an athlete by working hard each day. I love the game of football, but I also realize how important it is to get good grades. I earned a 4.04 GPA last semester while playing football and a 4.14 last spring while training, and my overall average GPA is a 3.99. When I graduate I want to get a good college education, in the field of engineering or finance while playing football at the next level.
