Personal Statement
My name is James Robert. I am a student athlete at Vintage High School in Napa California. I am extremely hard working, dedicated, and serious about my schooling and athletics. So far I have achieved more in both of these topics than any other football player in my grade and my goal is to maintain as well as improve every year . This is not just because I am necessarily bigger, stronger, faster, or smarter than them, but rather that I work harder, I am more patient with the process, and I know that if I practice and train to the best of my ability there will be nothing but positive outcomes for me.
So far this mindset has worked in my favor throughout high school. In my freshmen year at the end of the football season I was awarded MVP player of the year due to my hard work ethic, dedication and ability to preform within the games. After my freshmen year of football, I quickly transitioned into wrestling season, this was my first year within the sport and didn't know much about it but I quickly adapted. By the end of the JV season I had finished #3 in MEL for my weight class and earned the MVP award for my team all while maintaining a GPA of a 4.17.
Now I am a sophomore and have improved a great deal since my freshmen year. As the primary running back on my team I rushed for more yards, by far, than anyone on my team as well as score the most touchdowns. I was described by my position coach as the most malleable player on the field due to my many positions and contributions to my team such as Running back, Fullback, Outside linebacker, Inside linebacker, Nose guard, Defensive end, and Kick returner. By the end of the season I was given the award for Best Running back due to my obvious success throughout the season. I decided to stick with Wrestling after the freshmen season due to the toughness and fearlessness that is required to excel within the sport, and the fact that I did well the year before and had A lot of fun. I finished the Varsity season going farther than anybody else in the program in the 2015-16 year by competing in the Masters Tournament. I was also awarded MVP of the season as well as an additional award for making it the farthest out of everybody on my team, I find this being a huge accomplishment due to me only having two years of experience. And again, I excelled within my High school sports as well as competing in club Lacrosse and still maintaining over a 4.0
In conclusion, I may not be the biggest, tallest, fastest, strongest athlete on your list, but I will do everything in my power to preform, succeed, and be the best athlete that I can be, as well as an effective leader, and represent your program in a strong positive way.
