Personal Statement

I am a 6'2" 280 pound lineman from Yorkville High School in Illinois. I have been an Illinois State ranked heavy weight wrestler for 3 years and a Nationally ranked football player (Tom Lemming Prep Report). I started on the offensive line in every varsity game since my sophomore year. For my senior year, our team made it to the 2nd round of the IHSA class 6A playoffs. Our running back rushed for 2300 yards, behind me and a great offensive line. I am looking forward to continuing to play football in college. For now I am continuing my workouts and moving on to my wrestling season. My senior year I was named a 2014 Preseason All-American in Tom Lemmings 2014 Prep Report and Nationally Ranked as a 4 star athlete. I also earned Athletic and Academic All Conference Honors for the last 2 football seasons. I plan on playing football at the collegiate level. My goal is to obtain the best education possible while competing on a college football team. I enjoy mathematics, science and designing\building things. I am currently exploring the possibility of majoring in the field of Engineering, Chemistry or Math; but I have not yet committed myself to a major. I have lived in the Midwest my entire life, and would give strong consideration to college options in the Midwest region. However, I am open to learning about promising opportunities at any school.

ActivitiesWind Ensemble - I have been the first chair Bass Clarinet player in the most senior level band since my freshman year. In 2011/12 and in 2013/14 we won Illinois Superstate at the University of Illinois Music Festival. This is the highest honor that a band can attain in an Illinois high school; it is equivalent to placing first in state on a sports team., Northern Big 12 Honor Band - As a freshman (2012) I was selected by the YHS music department to be one of 4 musicians representing Yorkville High School for this honor. I was selected again my Sophomore and Junior years (2013 and 2014)., Math Team: I was recruited to participate on the YHS math team as a freshman (2011/12). Unfortunately I had to choose between wrestling varsity in the state dual championships or representing the freshman math team in the state series. I feel lucky to have had such a choice but I do not like to let my teammates down. I continued to wrestle and the math team went on to take 11th in state., Sophomore Year Math Team - In the first math competition of 2012/2013 I achieved a perfect top test score and helped my team earn a first place in our conference on the geometric lines on a plane team., I have been an assistant coach for the Yorkville Youth Tackle Football youth program for 3 years., I have put in time assistant coaching the young wrestlers in the Yorkville Wrestling Club., I am active in the teen group in my church - St. Patricks Yorkville., I volunteer at the Kendall County food pantry., I volunteer at Ronald McDonald House., I volunteer at St. Baldricks charity events., In 2012 I started a program that collects the lost and found clothing items from our local schools. My brother sister and I sort clean and repair clothing items. These items are then donated to the local food pantry for use by families in need. For the 2012/2013 school year we collected cleaned and repaired over 450 coats and 75 lunch boxes for donation. In 2013/14 we added more schools and exceeded this donation amount.
