Personal Statement
Athletics account for some of the earliest memories in my life, walking out to my first coin toss is just as clear to me as my first day of school. At a very young age my coaches, who are now like family, instilled hard work, respect, and mental toughness into my life. For most of my life I was just kid who loved playing football and wrestling, this all changed when I got to high school. My freshman year I was moved up to varsity for football and wrestling, the speed of the game was way over my head at that point. I knew that to compete at the level I was being asked to I had to commit more than just practice time to the game, this is when I truly became an athlete. The extra time I put in showed crystal clear with my first varsity carry resulting in a touchdown and becoming the first freshman in school history to qualify for state in wrestling. Throughout high school I have stayed true to my core values as an athlete and plan on continuing to the next level.
