I have been playing football since I was 5 years old, but it wasn't until I started playing for my high school team that I realized my true passion for the sport. My freshmen year I was given the opportunity to start for the varsity team in a new position as middle linebacker. I was determined to learn the position by putting in extra work, watching film, and following the guidance of my teammates and coaches. I worked hard in the off-season to improve my agility, speed, and strength.
By my sophomore season, my hard work and determination helped me earn defensive player of the week for my team 3 times. I also learned the importance of being a team player, working side by side with my other linebackers to create a stellar defense that had three shutouts and held teams to scoring an average of 15 points per game and a two year record of 26-2. I also showed my versatility and willingness to contribute to the team in different capacities, stepping up to play tight end and long snapper for the season due to injuries. I was chosen for the All-State Championship Team for Class 3A as a linebacker after racking up a total of 10 tackles and a forced fumble in the state finals.
Academics are very important to me. I work hard in the classroom and maintain a high GPA. I received Academic All-State honors in both football and swim. One of my greatest strengths is my willingness to work hard. I am very coachable and always strive to be better than I was the day before. Playing football in college would be a once in a lifetime opportunity for me. I will continue to go hard and put in the work to make that dream a reality.
