I am listed under heading below: "More top 2023 recruits to watch"-Top 50 Michigan High School Recruits
A Proud Kalamazoo Promise Scholarship Recipient,
Hello my name is Nathan Hodshire and I am a 6 foot 2inch and 205lbs DE, DT, LB, Kicker and G Junior at Loy Norrix high school located in Kalamazoo, Michigan. I earned my way onto the varsity team during my Sophomore year and continue to excel, both in the classroom academically and on the field. Before the Pandemic, an excellent wrestler too with many metals. In fact, I try to make myself better each and every day, both on the field and in the classroom. (I just finished the season with bunches of sacks per game (as some of highlight videos demonstrates) and that includes QB sacks, Running Back sacks and sometime Receiver sacks- I am credited with many solo sacks and for losses too per game and assist sacks. I was fortuant to play in each game with little injury and always as a starter. From time to time I am asked to kick as well.
Currently, I take science classes, including honor/advancement classes and a few college classes each term while in high school starting my sophomore year with granted school approval. I also am an ongoing honor role student.
Currently I am seeking an higher learning institution that has high academic standards with a sound football program. Though I am interested in the midwest region universities, I am willing to explore other options from outside my geographic zone as well.. In fact, a two D1 programs out west has drawn my attention and I am making strong considerations now. One of the coaches that reached out to me I am very familiar with and makes me feel at ease.
Finding an institution where I could find the right balance between the classroom and the field is important to me. Equally important, loyalty and dedication is important to me. Transferring is not an option. Hard work and patience is the key to success. In short, I do not expect shortcuts or favors in athletics. It all must come from within and earned.
My ultimate goal is to find a D1 college football program where I can make an immediate impact on the team--I DO Consider lower division too like IVY, MIFC, etc both who had coaches from those conferences to contact me. I need to fit in well and where I benefit the team, university and coaches. Not only that, I feel I should also represent the team and the university well both on and off the field. This is my mindset. Keep in mind I have plenty of experience playing football starting from rocket football until now. I also have experience playing many positions and on both sides of the ball including special teams and as a kicker, punter. Clearly I am a sound player with versatile skills and a strong work ethic!
As stated, I am seeking a university that has high academic standards but also an outstanding reputation in the Aviation/Aeronautics field. The same goes with the football program. I am seeking a football program that is clean, progressing, family originated as a team and that is stable.
Side Note:
I had issues accessing my football highlights because our head coach resigned at the end of the season. He also did not keep stats either, which is sad because I had some impressive numbers on my team. (I can provide you the contact of my former coach if needed who worked closely with me) Anyhow, I did recently gain access to the last season videos, thanks to the new head coach, and will be adding them to my profile next week for your viewing including my playoff highlights. Likewise, I will be adding this year's highlights as the team unfolds too. In short, the new coach that my school hired is really scientific and collects and records stats etc. That said, I look to develop and grow even more, both personally and physically, under his leadership.
