I am a Middle Linebacker. As a captain, I’ve led my team, Letchworth-Warsaw “LetSaw”, to back-to-back N.Y. Section V championships in 2018 & 2019, I was awarded my team’s 2019 M.V.P., I’m a N.Y. Section V League All-Star. I led my team in tackles (70 this season), play both sides of the ball and special teams.
You can see some plays from the last couple games of the 2019 season on YouTube: https://youtu.be/Ab2B39_xXXY or check out my hudl profile at https://www.hudl.com/profile/8284951/Mason-Johnson.
I am a leader, I give 150% all the time, and I am strong, fast, smart, and dedicated. I study as much film as my coaches. I’m the first one on the field and the last to leave. Although my primary experience is playing Middle Linebacker, I have also played tight end and OL. I am open to any position my coaches ask me to play.
I did not reach out to coaches early because I had planned on entering the military. Although I love the high-level physical and mental challenges of the military, I believe I can make a better impact in the world by pursuing a career in nursing. My goal is to earn my RN and possibly continue to become a Nurse Practitioner.
Some quick things about me: I’m a senior at Warsaw High School. I have been playing football since I was 11 years old. I am a strong athlete and student. Health and fitness is a top priority for me. I am a three-sport athlete and workout consistently, on and off-seasons. I take AP and college classes, I typically average around a 90% in all my classes (unweighted), which gives me a cumulative weighted GPA of 4.0. I have never been in trouble, at school or home. Outside of school, I am one of eight children. In August, my family adopted three teenagers. I am proud of being a good role model for my new younger siblings. It has also been one of the biggest challenges I have faced. I am deeply involved in my school, community, and church. I was Warsaw’s Boys State Representative this Spring, have NYS Scholar Athlete pins, countless certificates, awards, letters, etc. I sing in the chorus and have been selected for all-county choir every year. I work very hard every day and feel like I have a lot to offer.
