Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Evan Schwan. I am 6 feet 6 inches tall and weigh 230 pounds. I ran a 4.6 40-yard dash at the Penn State camp this past summer, a 4.41 shuttle at the Under Armour Combine this past summer, and achieved a 10' broad jump at the Pitt Camp and the Penn State Camp this summer as well.
My team, the Central Dauphin Rams, finished the regular season 10-1. We made it to the AAAA State Championship for the first time in school history AND WON! When it comes to my team, I was selected by my head coach Glen McNamee, to be one of five leaders on our football team's "leadership team". We make sure other players, both in our grade and younger, are working hard in school, working hard during workouts, and staying out of trouble. Every day after school we have team workouts that begin at 2:30 and end at 4:30. No matter what day it is, I am always the first player to arrive at workouts at 2:30 and the last player to leave between 5:30-6:00. Because of my intense dedication to working hard in the weight room I have been steadily gaining strength and weight. Outside of school I own a percentage of my brothers company, After Hours Installations. We install office furniture and cubicles to commercial businesses in the area after normal working hours and on weekends at normal labor rates in order to undercut the competition. The thing that drives me the most to work as hard as I do is my dream to play football in college. Plain and simple--I LOVE football and have a burning passion for the game. I feel that I have the background to be successful at the next level partially because my father, Dale Schwan, played offensive guard at Purdue from 1975 to 1979. He was a four year starter and on the winning teams of the 1978 Peach Bowl and 1979 Blue Bonnet Bowl. During his last two years he was also named "First Team All-Big Ten." My scholastic preference would be to attend a medium to large sized school with excellent academics, because academics are the most important thing to me. My desired major is business and economics. My main goal is to play the sport that I am passionate about while earning a valuable education. Currently I have offers from Illinois State, New Hampshire, Kent State, Temple, UConn, Rutgers, Iowa, and Penn State. On February 1st 2012, I signed my Letter of Intent to attend Penn State University as a student athlete.
