My name is Baron Leonard and I am a 6'1" 210 lb. tight end and long snapper at Eastside High School in Taylors, SC. As a coach's kid I have dreamed about playing football for as long as I can remember. Growing up on the football field has taught me many life lessons and the game itself. From the age of 5 I was on the sideline with my dad, the coaching staff, and players. I took it all in and became a student of the game. I saw the hours my dad put in off of the field as well. Once my opportunity came I was able to put it all into action on the field myself. I have grown into a dedicated leader, team player, and someone who gives it all day in and day out.
Throughout my football career I have had the opportunity to play both sides of the ball at both skilled and line positions. In my high school career I have played center, defensive end, long snapper, and this year tight end. I was named honorable mention All-State and first team All-Region as a tight end this year. I averaged over 11 yards per reception with 3 touchdowns. I had 30 pancake blocks, 10 tackles, and 310 all purpose yards. I was nearly perfect with long snaps at 63/64.
Outside of football I am part of a state championship wrestling program at Eastside High School. We recently won our 8th straight AAAA state title and I earned my first individual state championship in the 195 lb weight class. Over the years I played baseball as well. Last spring I joined the track team to work on my speed and plan to do the same this spring. I also am a member of the Federation of Christian Athletes and Young Life. When I am not busy with sports, school, family, and church I work a part-time job as a food runner at a longstanding restaurant downtown Greenville.
My academic goals are to finish high school in the top 25% of my class and move onto a Division I college to pursue a bachelor's degree. I am undecided about my course of study but would love to continue to work in the area of sports somehow, maybe the business side of things.
You can count on my integrity, grit, and work ethic both on the field and off.
