My name is Elijah Maldonado, I am a 180 lb 5'10 Junior at Burkburnett High School in Burkburnett Texas. I played QB from the age of 9 years old in a peewee league and was starting QB from 7th grade to 9th grade. I worked hard throughout school in any sport I played, also while playing on a travel basketball and baseball team. I certainly have always been an athletic individual. But football has definitely been my number one passion. As a freshman I was moved to Varsity where I played backup QB and kick off return. My sophomore year I began to play safety and wide receiver. This was a year that was a bit challenging leaving the town I grew up in Vernon, Tx to move to Burkburnett,Tx. The athletic program here made me want to work harder, to reach the potential I know I have. I am proud of the work I have put in and the many accomplishments I have worked to get. I lead the team in tackles per game. My junior year was a great season, I worked very hard and was honored with the 4-4A First Team All-District Safety Award. This was a really big accomplishment for me and will only make me work harder to achieve my dream of playing at college level. My expectations for myself are to focus more on my grades and continue to work hard in the gym. I will only work harder from here on out to prepare myself for college academics and athletics. I have the best support system to help in anyway possible. My parents play a huge role in my success and where I am today. I have been told by several that my athletic skills are something that I should be very proud of and I am. I want to be the best role model for my community and peers and make my family proud. This is my dream and I will work hard to accomplish it.
