Baylen Brown '13 Recruiting Profile

Hi, my name is Baylen Brown.  My dream is to play football at the college level and follow in the footsteps of my late grandfather, Bobby Maples, who played 14 years as a center in the NFL.  His legacy has inspired me to work hard and have good character knowing that these qualities will be instrumental in helping me to achieve my dreams and to positively impact others.

Currently, I am a Junior at O'Connor High School in Helotes, Texas (part of the Northside Independent School District in San Antonio, Texas).  I am 6'4" weighing 296 pounds and just completed my second year as a varsity football player in our Texas 27-5A high school.  As a Junior, I played on the Offensive LIne as our team's Left Guard.  During my Sophomore season, I played at Left Tackle. I was honored this season with First Team All Area, First Team All District (Unanimous) and Texas 5A State All Junior Team.  My Sophomore honors included First Team All District and Texas 5A State All Sophomore Team.  

In addition to football, I throw shot put and discus in track.  Currently, I am a 3 year member of the O'Connor FFA (Future Farmers of America) completing my second year of raising pigs.  Raising animals in the Ag Program has continued to teach me more about responsibility, hard work and time management.   I am also an active member in my church youth ministry attending weekly events and participating in mission projects and camps.  Additionally, I enjoy being a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at O'Connor High.  

In college, I plan to major in History with a minor in Secondary Education.  My dream is to continue my love of football throughout my life as a Coach.  Next to parents, coaches have one of the greatest impacts, positive or negative, on the lives of young athletes.  I would like to be a positive example impacting the future leaders of this generation and the next.  As a result, my athletic goal is to play football at the highest competition level possible and to begin my career by making a positive impact on the team I am honored to play on.  I would be honored to play on a team like yours.  I appreciate your consideration of my talents and abilities.  I look forward to talking to you soon.
